Jean Watts is the author of two humor books that contain hilarious cartoons of gifted children in typical situations at home and at school. Although Watts teaches fifth grade in Maine, she also has taught gifted K-8, art, algebra, and college courses to teacher candidates. She has been a speaker for conferences on gifted children in 10 states but prefers working on creative projects from home.
Watts has been president of her local teachers’ union, served on what seems to her to be every committee known to schools, and helped establish a Rural Schools Partnership 10 years ago to assist eight small, local school districts in sharing resources and development. She was awarded one of the certificates from the Hannaford Corporation/ Maine Department of Education as a Teacher of the Year nominee.
Watts has four grown children and is married to a man who still makes her laugh. She graduated with a B.S. in Psychology from Kansas State University and received her M.Ed. from the University of Maine.
