Nancy Heilbronner, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Instructional Leadership at Western Connecticut State University, where she teaches and advises in doctoral-level courses in talent development, creativity, and statistics. She is on the Board of the Connecticut Association for Gifted Children and also serves on committees for the National Association for Gifted Children.

Dr. Heilbronner became interested in gifted and talented education when her own children were identified as gifted. She was a teacher of the gifted for 10 years at both the elementary and middle school levels. She earned her Ph.D. in gifted education from the University of Connecticut, where she worked with leaders in the field. Since then, she has been active in researching and publishing in the field of gifted education. Dr. Heilbronner is the recipient of a number of research grants. Her previous book, ThinkData, co-authored by Drs. Joseph S. Renzulli and Del Siegle, is a guide for teachers of gifted science students. She also has authored numerous parent and teacher articles on gifted children, gifted education, and science education. In addition, she has lectured and provided dozens of professional development and parenting workshops on these topics throughout the United States.

Dr. Heilbronner has been extremely active in her community, serving as the president of her school’s PTA and on other steering committees for not-for-profit organizations. A breast-cancer survivor, she also served on steering committees for local breast cancer fundraising organizations. Additionally, she started a parenting group in her community that focused on parent education and advocacy for gifted children.
